South Tyneside brothers Shareef and Shahine Aminpour are hoping to achieve launderette success after one of the brothers was made redundant from his previous laundry position.Shanine, who lost his job at West Walpole Street Community Laundry when it closed its doors in 2010, has now opened his own establishment with his sibling- and things are already looking good.
Things have got off to a flying start at SOS Laundry Services, with the Aminpour brothers already enjoying a very impressive client base- much of which is built up of domestic customers.
The brothers invested £4,000 of their own personal savings into the launderette- which they believe can be a huge success. However, to achieve greater success, the brothers are looking to grow their loyal customer base even further- and this could create more jobs in the area.
Shahine explained:
“Shareef and I are breaking even, but we really need another 200 customers...SOS Laundry Services offer a fantastic collection and delivery service, and laundry is treated to washing and drying using top of the range commercial laundry equipment
“We would love to reach some of the many customers I used to be involved with at the council-run laundry.”

At the end of last week, the largest washing machine in Europe sprang into life- with its home being in the town of Yeovil.
The super-size washing machine, which is owed by Paragon Yeovil, deals with well in excess of 200,000 laundry items per week. The new machine certainly didn’t come cheap though, and is thought to have cost a whopping £1million.
The introduction of the washing machine- which caters to the needs of those in the hospitality trade sector- has proved highly beneficial in many ways, with the creation of around 60 jobs giving employment in Yeovil a boost.
Lyndon Thomas, a member of Paragon’s senior management team commented: "The plant has had a good response from the area in terms of recruitment."Such a large piece of commercial laundry equipment obviously needs to be situated in large premises- with the former yoghurt factor in which the washer is housed offering more than ample space.
Paragon has already revealed that they have further plans in the pipeline for their Yeovil-based operations, so watch this space!
