Laundry owner wins Gwynedd Businessperson of the Year awardDespite the current economic crisis, it seems that laundry businesses are performing very well indeed. Mark Woolfenden, a laundry business owner, has just been named Gwynedd Businessperson of the year due to the success of his Afonwen business.
Mark opened his first laundry in Pwllheli and has already won accolades for his business including the Daily Post Achievement Wales Businessperson of the Year in 2011.
Afonwen now employs over 440 staff and supplies over 40,000 hotels across England and Wales with clean laundry equipment.
Mark said in the Daily Post:
“I am thrilled to be recognised by local business leaders and very humbled to receive this award,” he said.
“Afonwen is very proud of its origins as a small local laundry in Gwynedd serving the community for many years before the modern day washing machine existed.
Mark is hopeful for the future as he sees his business grow, he further commented:
“We plan to continue to rapidly grow and ensure that we continue to develop a professional and ethically sound business of which the founders of Afonwen in Gwynedd would be proud.”
